Frequently Asked Questions

How many different people will be involved with my adoption and what can I expect?
If you work with A Birthmother's Choice, you will be assigned a caseworker. The caseworker will complete paperwork that tells us what you desire in an adoption. We will talk to you about the best way to get everything you need out of your adoption plan. Next, you will most likely choose the adoptive couple you want to adopt your baby. From that point on, if you want, you can talk to them regularly. This couple will pay for all of your adoption expenses and hire an attorney or adoption agency to do the necessary legal work. The attorney or agency social worker will talk to you in person and tell you in detail what to expect during the course of the adoption. They will give you money for expenses and pay your bills. After the baby is born, you will sign the necessary paperwork to complete the adoption. You may have to sign in court or in the hospital or someplace else. It varies from place to place.

What does it mean that I can get help before and after?
Depending on the state you live in and their law, this means that we can help you with some of your living expenses for several month before the baby is born and 1-2 months after. But it is looked at on a case by case situation and could be more or less depending on your needs.

Can I meet the people that want to adopt my baby?
That is totally up to you--it's your choice. We will help you find that will meet with you if that's what you want.

How much will it cost me to place my child up of adoption?
There is no charge to you, in fact if you need help with paying some of your bills we might be able to help you.

"Mindy was my lifeline and my sole support. Having that extra support help make the adoption possible. I could never have done it on my own."

"I was scared to call, but talking with you has helped me see what I need to to. I am still scared but, now that I have talked with you, I am able to see what I need to do. Thanks."

"Adoption is not easy but in my case it is worth it. I gave something to a family that they couldn't give themselves--a baby; and they gave me my kids back through financial help. A Birthmothers Choice set it all up and next month all my kids will be living under my roof again."
